MetroGel is a topical medication prescribed to treat rosacea (adult acne). MetroGel contains the antibiotic Metronidazole to help decrease redness, swelling, inflammation and the number of pimples caused by rosacea.

MetroGel can be applied after washing your hands and the effected areas. Allow 15 minutes after washing before applying the topical cream. Measure out a small amount and then apply a thin layer of the medication to your skin, and wait at least 5 minutes before wearing any cosmetics. You should apply MetroGel once daily or as directed by your doctor.

Avoid applying the medication near the eyes. Your eyes are sensitive to the medication and could tear up as a result. If eye contact occurs, rinse and flush thoroughly with cold water.

MetroGel may have ingredients that could induce an allergic reaction. Speak with your doctor regarding known allergies or sensitivities before using this medication. Additionally you should consult your doctor about prior medical conditions relating to blood disorders. Disclose any medications or supplements you are taking to ensure there are no interactions while taking MetroGel.

Some side effects can include: skin stinging/burning/irritation/dryness/ redness/scaling/itching, metallic taste, nausea, headache, numbness or tingly feeling in your hands or feet, cough, stuffy nose, sore throat, cold symptoms, or vaginal itching or discharge.
