Mirapex is also known by the generic name Pramipexole and can be prescribed to treat Parkinson's disease or in some cases of restless legs syndrome. Pramipexole is a dopamine agonist that works by helping restore chemical balance in the brain to decrease tremors, stiffness, unsteadiness and increase movement.
Before taking Mirapex make sure to read the paper work and instructions given to you by your pharmacist. Mirapex is taken orally with or without food. Taking Mirapex with food reduces the chances of feeling nauseous afterwards.
In some cases your doctor will start you on a low dose of Mirapex and gradually increase to an optimal dose that you will take regularly every eight hours or as directed by your doctor.
Mirapex may have ingredients that could induce an allergic reaction. Speak with your doctor regarding known allergies before using the medication. Additionally you should consult your doctor about prior medical relating to low blood pressure, heart problems, kidney problems, or mood disorders. You may feel dizzy or drowsy while taking Mirapex. Do not operate heavy machinery or drive a vehicle until you know it is safe to do so. Avoid alcohol and cannabis as they can exasperate the dizzying effects. Speak with your doctor about the acceptable limits of these substances.
Some common side effects can include:
dizziness when standing (postural hypotension), nausea, dry mouth, stomach pain, vomiting, constipation, headache, dizziness, spinning sensation, drowsiness, swelling in your hands and feet, appetite or weight changes, blurred vision, sleep problems (insomnia or unusual dreams), memory problems (amnesia), forgetfulness, confusion or thinking problems, swelling in your hands or feet, impotence, loss of interest in sex, or trouble having an orgasm

A: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If your missed does is close to your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the scheduled dose to avoid double dosing.
