Retin A Gel (Tretinoin Gel) is topical gel used for acne treatment to decrease the overall amount of acne pimples on your skin and helps them heal quicker. Retin-A Gel contains Tretinoin and is know as a retinoid that helps change the growth skin cells to prevent and heal acne

Before using Retin-A Gel make sure to read all the available information given to you be your pharmacist and doctor. Before applying the cream make sure to wash your hands and face  taking care to clean the effected areas. It is best to wait a few minutes to let your skin dry completely before applying the cream. Measure a drop of the cream on the tip of your finger roughly the size of a pea. Massage the measured dose into the skin of the effected areas creating a thin layer. This  should be done once daily at bed time.

Speak with your doctor about known allergies before using Retin-A Gel as there are some ingredients that can induce allergic reactions. Disclose any prior medical history, current medication and any supplementation you are taking to ensure a safe and effective acne treatment with Retin-A Gel

This medication can take upwards to 12 weeks to see symptom relief, and should be used regularly for best results. Retin-A Gel has alcohol and can dry the skin in some cases. To prevent dry skin you can apply a gentle moisturizer over the effected areas once the gel has been given enough time to dry. 

Sensitive areas on your body like the eyes, mouth and inside the nose can be easily irritated if they come into contact with the gel. Flush the effected area thoroughly with water if the gel gets into your eyes or any other sensitive area. Avoid use if the skin is cracked, cut, sunburned, or you have eczema.

While using Retin-A Gel avoid any hair removal that involves chemicals, electrolysis or waxing on the effected areas. Tretinoin is known to make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. You should limit sun exposure whenever possible and wear protective clothing along with sunscreen to protect your skin.

Some side effects can include:

burning, stinging, warmth, or tingling sensation of the skin after application, chapping or slight peeling of the skin, increased sensitivity to sunlight, redness of the skin, skin rash, temporary darkening or lightening of the skin, unusual dryness of the skin

Q: Can I use this cream while pregnant or breast feeding?

A: There is not enough medical data to know if the breast milk can be affected in nursing mothers. It is best to speak with your doctor about the risk of using this cream while breast feeding. Consult with your doctor about using Retin-A Gel during pregnancy and the risks associated with it.

 

Q: How should I store Retin-A Cream?
